The King of Sweden is not dead. Although according to Saturday's Aftonbladet, visitors to a BBC-imitation web site thought he was, until the site was revealed to be a fake.

The site in question copied the layout, colours and web address of the BBC News site and declared that "the King of Sweden was shot dead on his way to his hotel in Athens, after attending the Olympics".

The Royal Press Officer, Elisabeth Tarras-Wahlberg, said that it was a "tasteless joke that is beyond all limits".
