Sweden's environment minister, Lena Sommestad, has 33 toxins in her blood - but that's the lowest of fourteen members of the European Parliament tested by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

"I think it's because I didn't eat much fresh fish when I grew up as my mother wasn't very fond of it", said Sommestad. She also took the opportunity to point out that Swedes generally have a lower level of toxins in their system compared to other Europeans.

The WWF found an average of 37 toxic substances in the ministers' blood and a minister "from Southern Europe" had the highest number - 43.

DN explained that most of the toxins in our body are from pesticides used in agriculture.
