A club run by a British man and an Irish man has been voted the best in Stockholm by listings magazine Allt om Stockholm.

"Step On" beat hundreds of other club nights to the prestigious award thanks to its appeal to a far more diverse crowd than its competitors in the city, believes Phil Hopkin, who started the night two years ago with Morty McCarthy.

"We do something different to everywhere else," said Hopkin. "We play everything from the Kinks to the White Stripes. That creates a really nice vibe - and you can see it in the crowd, which ranges from about 22 to 40."

The winner of the best artist award was Rebel Robert, who can currently be seen performing at Slussen underground station.

Step On: Bonden Bar, Bondegatan 1c. Södermalm. 8-1am. 20 kr. Every Saturday.
