Swedish bone-marrow donor urgently needed

In August 2004, 34-year-old Maria Gunilla Engelbrecht , a Swedish mother of two living in South Africa, went for a routine medical check up and was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. She immediately began chemotherapy and has now got the cancer under control. However, Maria still needs a bone marrow transplant if she is to overcome the disease completely.

There is a 1 in 100,000 chance of Maria finding a donor with the same tissue type, and her chances of doing so are highest among her fellow Swedes. So please try to help Maria by calling the Bone Marrow Registry in Sweden and having your blood tested to see if it matches hers.

Thank you from Maria and her family.
