Clas Ohlson: one of Europe?s fastest growing businesses

DIY chain Clas Ohlson ranks as Europe’s ninth fastest growing listed company, according to the monthly publication European Business.

Heating products firm Nibe Industrier AB ranks 42nd on the list while New Wave, Sweden’s largest wholesaler of promotional clothing ranks 48th. Healthcare group Capio ranks 91st.

Upswing in online shopping

Many of Sweden’s online retailers have noted an upswing in trading in December, with Carl Johan Grandinson of TradeDoubler describing 2004 as a “breakthrough”.

TradeDoubler increased its sales by 110 per cent in December year-on-year. The home electronics sector increased its sales by 129 per cent.

Proventus acquires MTG’s holding in TV 4

Venture capitalist Proventus has acquired MTG’s holding in TV 4 for 513 million crowns, corresponding to 15.1 per cent of the capital and votes in TV 4.

Newspaper sources suggest that Proventus is helping Bonnier in its power struggle with Norwegian Schibsted for control of the broadcasting company.

TV 4 shares rose by some 12 per cent following the news to close at 166 crowns.
