Insurance premiums to rise following storm damage

DI continues to look at the cost of the storm that hit Sweden over a week ago. The paper reports that insurance premiums will go up as claims amounting to billions of crowns start coming in from those affected. But the paper also reports that only a quarter of forest owners were properly insured as no one could imagine such an event. As a result many families are having to leave their homes.

The Tax Board (Skatteverket) is allowing employers affected by the storm some respite.

“Many people can’t get their VAT and tax at source declarations in. Naturally we’ll take this into consideration,” says Vilhelm Andersson of Skatteverket.
