Strong results for Sweden’s listed companies…

Sweden's isted companies are expected to report strong results, higher dividends and bright future prospects during the coming few weeks when they release their figures for 2004.

“They will confirm that the economy is strong and that there will be no downturn before the end of the year,” say Martin Guri, senior analyst with SEB.

…but firms fail to invest

“There’s a macro-economic fear among Swedish firms that make them afraid to invest in new technology and facilities in Sweden, but use their profits to buy companies abroad instead,” says Villy Bergström, deputy head of the Riksbank.

“Sweden is currently a new exporter of capital, despite the opportunities and needs that exist here in Sweden,” he says.
