At its Lisbon summit in 2000 the European Council approved an objective to become, by 2010, the most competitive economy in the world.
Ekström feels that the government is comparing Sweden’s progress with the wrong countries.
“We should compare ourselves with the best in each area. But the government is choosing to compare us with those countries that are doing worse than Sweden. And they seem content with that,” commented Ekström.
