IKEA continues to expand

Swedish furniture giant IKEA will open 19 new stores in 2005. At present the chain has 182 stores in 23 countries. In addition 22 stores in 14 countries are run on a franchise basis.

The IKEA group posted turnover of 12.8 billion Euro for the financial year 2004.

SAS passenger numbers up

Scandinavian airline SAS reports an 8.1 per cent year-on-year increase in passenger traffic in January. The main subsidiary Scandinavian Airlines reports a 4 per cent increase in revenue passenger kilometres (RPK).

Volvo Cars announces new head of design

Volvo Cars announced yesterday that Steve Mattin will take over as design director at the company on May 1. Mr Mattin is currently design studio director at Daimler Chrysler.
