Sweden “ready for euro”

Lithuanian pay levels attract companies

Geson Skandia Tryckeriet has moved part of its business from Kungsbacka to the little village of Gargzdai not far from the Lithuanian harbour town of Klaipeda. The company blames poor profitability for the move and estimates that production could be 30-40 per cent cheaper in Lithuania in the long-term. The company is providing jobs for 30 Lithuanians and plans to increase to 80-100 employees in two years.
