Treschow urges politicians to focus on competition

EU heads of state and government will re-launch the Lisbon Strategy in Mid-March and in the past few weeks various political camps have discussed how to balance the three key issues at the heart of the strategy.

This week Michael Treschow, chairman of the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, urged Swedish MEPs, MPs and civil servants to stop bickering over the political balance between growth, jobs and the environment and instead focus on competition.

“I don’t have a problem with the balance, however it looks. But I do have a problem if the discussions over the balance take another five years,” he says.
