DIY chain to expand after increased profits

Sweden's favourite Clas, Clas Ohlson, announced profits today of 50 million kronor for the first nine months of the fiscal year.

The DIY chain-store which has previously been found in larger towns and cities has now decided to extend its reach and open stores in smaller communities across the country.

During the next 12 months the company plans to open 6-10 new stores, with the figure expected to rise to 12-15 the year after.

For many Swedes, Clas Ohlson has a reputation of appealing to middle-aged men who religiously study each season’s catalogue. But as Thursday’s figures reveal, the brand appeals to a far wider section of society.

According to TT, people have even got engaged on the steps outside the company’s head office in Insjön.
