Swedish MDs say Persson must go

Interviews conducted by DI with some 102 managing directors of Swedish listed companies reveal that just 3 per cent want Göran Persson to stay in power after the 2006 elections.

Mats Qviberg, MD of investment company Öresund, comments, “…Persson is not as motivated as he used to be. The fact that he can’t deal with the tax burden may cost him the next election.”

Some 76 per cent of the MDs questioned want to see a change in government.

“We’ve been living in a planned economy for so long now. A non-socialist government would lead to improved performance for lots of people, both financially and otherwise,” says Joen Magnusson, MD of technical group G&L Beijer.
