Is Apoteket a bad thing?

State-owned Apoteket pharmacies currently have a monopoly on selling medicines in Sweden, but this could soon change following a ruling from the European Court. But aren't dangerous drugs better off being sold by the state, which can look after the common good, rather than by private business, which is just looking to make a profit?
