Swedish publishing house Bonnier Group has taken control of the Bulgarian Pari economics daily newspaper, Pari editor-in-chief Stefan Nedelchev has told AFP.

"It was a 50 percent takeover," he said, refusing to disclose the price of the deal.

Pari publisher Business Media group and Bonnier completed the acquisition last week, state BTA agency quoted Pari chief executive Valentin Panayotov as saying.

"The investment in Bulgaria is part of the company's expansion policy, which includes Croatia, Bulgaria and Ukraine," it added.

The Bonnier Group, the ninth largest media company in Europe and the largest book publisher in Sweden, owns several magazines including the daily business newspaper Dagens Industri, often called the Swedish version of the Financial Times.

Pari is Bulgaria's major economics daily newspaper with a circulation of 10,000 copies.
