Swedish star to stay at Arsenal

Swedish international Freddie Ljungberg has signed an extension to his contract with Arsenal which will keep him at the Premiership side until 2009.

"I've been at Arsenal for nearly seven years now and I'm so happy to have signed a new contract," the midfielder told the club's website on Thursday.

Ljungberg, who has won two Premiership titles and three FA Cups since moving to Highbury from Swedish outfit Halmstads in 1998, says he's hungry for more success.

"I'm looking forward to challenging for more trophies over the forthcoming years and also the propsect of playing in our new stadium in 2006."
