Swedish midfielder signs for Greek giants

Greek first division club Panathinaikos announced on Monday that it had signed Swedish international midfielder Mikael Nilsson on a three-year contract.

No financial details of the contract were announced by the club but there is an option for an additional season if both sides agree.

“I am very happy about my transfer and anxious to play for Panathinaikos,” said the 27-year-old.

“They are a major team and this is a great opportunity in my career,” added Nilsson.

Nilsson, scorer of three goals in 24 internationals, played for former English Premiership outfit Southampton last season following a four year stint with Halmstads BK in Sweden.
