Telenor "to bid for Vodafone Sweden"
Telenor ASA could make a bid for Vodafone PLC's Swedish operations, which are estimated to be worth more than €750 million, British newspaper The Business reported yesterday.
In a speculative report, the paper said the state-controlled Norwegian company is known to be dissatisfied with its position in Sweden, where it has just 107,000 subscribers compared with market leader TeliaSonera's 4.3 million.
A spokesman for Vodafone said the mobile phone giant believed it "was still the best owner of the (Swedish) business".
Meanwhile, Telenor declined to comment on the story.
