Advertising market continues to grow in Sweden

Spending on advertising in the second quarter of the year was up 9% compared to the second quarter of 2004. Total expenditure hit 7.3 billion kronor, according to figures from the Institute for Advertising and Media Statistics.

Internet advertising enjoyed the greatest surge, with a 36% rise, year-on-year. Both banner ads and search word marketing increased by over 50%, taking the internet’s share of ad revenue to 5.6%.

Advertising in the major Swedish papers also increased dramatically after almost five years of negative growth.
