The drama student who last month was fined for reading pornographic stories to a group of kindergarten children as part of a study project has appealed against the verdict.

Stockholm district court fined the 32 year old man 2,400 kronor. But according to his lawyer, the judgement was made not on legal grounds but on "moral reasoning".

The two stories concerned homosexual sex acts between eight year old boys and girls, and the children were filmed during the reading to study their facial expressions.

The reading, held last January, was part of a project by the Stockholm drama school Dramatiska Institutet (DI) to study children and their sexual awareness and understanding about love and their own bodies.

A decision on whether there will be a new hearing is expected at the beginning of January.
