“The old one was very ugly,” said party leader Lars Ohly at the launch.
The new symbol, which was conceived by PR agency Zoo, is a white V in the middle of a red carnation.
“The carnation is a good symbol for a broad and open Left Party, which brings together the multitude of international branches which we are the expression of here in Sweden,” said Ohly.
The decision to introduce a new party symbol was made in 2001.
