Swede to be extradited from Thailand

A Swedish man has been arrested in Thailand for extradition to Sweden, where he is wanted as part of a criminal investigation, the Thai immigration chief said on Tuesday.

Bo Peter Soderbäck was arrested on Tuesday in the resort town of Pattaya. He had spent 18 months in prison in Sweden for drug trafficking and bank robbery, Lieutenant General Suwat Tumrongsiskul said.

The Swedish embassy had requested his extradition as part of a further investigation into his crimes, Suwat said.

“We investigated his entry to Thailand and found that his visa was expired. We had kept eyes on him and that led to the arrest,” Suwat added.

A German man was also arrested in Thailand for extradition on the same day.

“The arrests aim to get rid of suspects whose behavior is harmful to the Thai community,” said Suwat.
