December trade surplus below expectations

Sweden had a trade surplus of 7.0 billion kronor in December, compared with 12.5 billion a year earlier, the Central Statistical Bureau said on Wednesday.

The surplus was less than the 10.5 billion kronor expected by analysts as recorded by SME Direkt.

Exports amounted to 83.6 billion kronor and imports 76.6 billion. Compared with a year earlier, exports have risen by 9 percent in value, while imports have increased 19 percent.

Trade with countries outside the EU resulted in a surplus of 13.7 billion kronor, while EU trade resulted in a deficit of 6.7 billion.
