The woman herself rang SOS Alarm during the night and told them what had happened. Police who arrived at the woman’s apartment with a doctor confirmed that the child was dead.
A police investigation has begun and a forensics was examining the apartment on Tuesday morning.
“The woman was questioned throughout the afternoon,” said Mikael Skoog, press spokesman at Östergötland polce, till TT.
After the interview the woman was held on suspicion of murder or manslaughter. Mikael Skoog declined to give any details of how the woman responded to the allegations or how the child was killed.
“The post-mortem will tell us that,” he said.
