‘People smugglers’ in court

Four people have been remanded in custody by Gothenburg district court, suspected of involvement in a people-smuggling ring.

Two of those held are charged with people smuggling, whereas the other two are charged with using false documents.

Another person who appeared in court in the same case was released without charge.

A total of nine people have been arrested in the case, and more are due to appear for bail hearings.

Prosecutors say that most of those smuggled to Sweden come from Iran and Iraq, and have been brought into the country using false passports and other documents.
