Double gold for Sweden

Sweden has won its first medals at the Winter Olympics. Lina Andersson and Anna Dahlberg pipped the Canadian duo to the post in the Nordic combined team sprint to take the first gold medal for Sweden since 1994. Finland came third in the three-way sprint finish.

"It feels unbelievable that we won the first medal for Sweden," said Anna Dahlberg to SVT.

"The fact that it was gold still hasn't sunk in."

Then, just a few minutes later, Björn Lind and Thobias Fredriksson won the gold medal in the men's cross country team sprint. The Norwegian duo - the favourites for the event - took silver in the relay, followed by Russia in bronze medal position.

"It was just a case of digging in and going for it," Fredriksson told SVT.

"It went very, very fast on the final stretch but I thought I had a pretty good idea of what was going on."

The Winter Olympics is being shown live from Turin throughout the day on SVT.
