Swedish growth below expectations

The Swedish economy expanded 2.7% in 2005 after growth of 3.7% in the previous year, the central statistics bureau announced on Tuesday in a preliminary estimate.

Growth came to 2.9% in the fourth quarter of 2005 compared with the same three months in 2004 and 0.7% from third quarter 2005.

Fourth quarter momentum fell short of market expectations of growth of 3.4% from the same period of 2004 and 0.9% compared with the third quarter of 2005.
