Swedish firm plans world’s biggest biogas plant

Swedish energy company Göteborg Energi said on Thursday it will build the world's biggest biogas plant with a capacity of 1,600 cubic metres per hour.

The plant is to be completed in December, and at full capacity will be able to produce enough clean fuel to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 15,000 tons per year, company officials told the TT news agency.

Chief Executive Hans Malm said demand for clean fuel for cars was such that five more biogas plants could be built in Sweden over next five years, and there was also growing interest for biogas production in France and Germany.
