Venture capital investments in Sweden were higher than ever in 2005, according to a new report.

Over 40 billion kronor were invested in buyouts and venture capital by Swedish risk capital companies. Disposals also hit a new record of 60 million kronor.

The statistics are revealed in a new report from Nutek (the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth) and the Swedish Private Equity & Venture Capital Association.

The figures are double last year's numbers, and are the highest since the survey began in 2001.

The report says that the positive trend is likely to continue. Venture capital companies are positive about growth prospects, and predict that investments will increase further during 2006.
