A man was charged in his absence on Tuesday on probable suspicion of murdering his girlfriend in Lund. The woman was discovered dead in her apartment in the centre of the city on Tuesday morning.

Her relatives had become concerned when they were unable to get in touch with her, and had contacted police on Monday.

Early on Tuesday police entered her apartment with the help of a locksmith and found the woman dead.

Police remained tight-lipped about the specific cause of the woman's death, but late on Tuesday afternoon they announced the decision to hunt for her partner, with whom she shared the apartment.

"He is wanted and charged in his absence," said the detective leading the investigation, Bo Lundqvist at Skåne police.

"We are looking for him in different ways and at the same time we're continuing to interview acquaintances and neighbours."
