Immigrants exploited in risky jobs
Asylum seekers without work or residency permits have been in great demand throughout the winter - for the dangerous work of clearing snow off rooftops.
Low wages are paid cash-in-hand and the workers lack any form of insurance, say several organisations contacted by Swedish Radio.
Many accidents have occurred during the winter, according to SR.
At the beginning of March a snow clearer fell several metres to the ground on his first day in the job. Police said that he had been trained that morning but the safety line had not worked.
