Car runs over man lying on road

A 22-year old man who was lying on a road in Växjö died on Saturday night after a car ran him over. Police say the car driver is suspected of careless driving and manslaughter.

The accident happened at around 10.30 pm on Saturday in the town in southern Sweden. The driver was reported to have been zig-zagging on the road to avoid speed retarders. The car swung onto the left-hand side of the road without seeing that someone was lying there, a police spokesman in Växjö said.

Five people were traveling in the car, some of whom suffered severe shock after the accident. There were other witnesses to the crash, police say.
