The accident happened at around 10.30 pm on Saturday in the town in southern Sweden. The driver was reported to have been zig-zagging on the road to avoid speed retarders. The car swung onto the left-hand side of the road without seeing that someone was lying there, a police spokesman in Växjö said.
Five people were traveling in the car, some of whom suffered severe shock after the accident. There were other witnesses to the crash, police say.
