Record heroin haul in Ljungby
Police in the southern Swedish town of Ljungby seized a record amount of heroin this past weekend.
The 15 kilograms of drugs impounded by police has an estimated street value of close to 18 million kronor.
Three men – all of whom are in their 30s and from the former Yugoslavia - were detained during the drug haul, and are now be held by Växjö police for drug crimes.
“Through an investigation we knew there was a possibility to fine a large amount of drugs,” said Klas Fredriksson, police spokesman, adding that even he was surprised at just how much police found.
A fourth person, a 33-year-old woman, was released on Monday, but is still involved in the investigation.
Prosecutors will ask the three men be remanded in custody later on Tuesday.
