Police in the southwest Swedish town of Helsingborg received an odd call on Thursday.

A 20-year-old man who found his girlfriend's stolen Honda Civic parked decided to crawl into the trunk and wait for the thief to come back.

The man planned on keeping the trunk open a bit so that he could tell police where he was, but after hitting a bump, the latched locked. Police began to track the call.

Police later found the car in a parking lot, but the thief was gone.

The boyfriend was safe and drove the car home after being freed from the back.
