A 43-year old Swede died in Austria on Tuesday while paragliding in the Tyrol region.

Police say it is likely that the man was not properly strapped into his equipment when he set off. He crashed through the roof of a farm in Stubaital and is likely to have died instantly.

The man set off just before 3pm near the funicular railway in the village of Neustift. Soon after the start, his harness loosened and moved up around his head, making it impossible for him to control the glider. He then fell out of the harness and onto the house roof, 50 metres below.

The Swedish foreign ministry said that the man was from the Stockholm area and was in Austria with a friend.
