Police received a call late on Wednesday about a woman being held against her will in an apartment. It is not clear if it was the woman herself who called for help.
According to TV4, the woman was reportedly raped at gun point while police waited outside trying to negotiate with the man.
The man, said to be in his 50s, was overpowered by officers armed with pepper spray at 2am on Thursday and taken into custody. The woman was taken to the hospital for assessment and treatment.
According to Södertörn police, some 14 police cars, a police van, and a negotiator were at the scene.
When Södertörn police spokesman Michael Johansson was asked if anybody was hurt he said, “Yeah, the suspect, but whether it is physical or just psychological I don’t know.”
Johansson said nobody else was injured.
On Thursday morning police said that no weapon had been found in the apartment. Investigators also said that after questioning the man may be charged with other offences.
