Protests against Israeli athletes
Around 1,000 people marched in Gothenburg on Monday to protest against the participation of Israeli athletes at the European Athletics Championships, police said.
A police spokesman told AFP that the protestors marched to the Ullevi Stadium, where the championships are being staged, before setting light to two Israeli flags.
"It has been very calm. Around 1,000 people have gathered and marched to the Ullevi Stadium," said police spokesman Malin Sahlstrom.
Israel launched an offensive against Lebanon following a deadly cross-border raid by Hezbollah on July 12 that saw two Israeli soldiers captured.
