Larsson, who currently sits as a board member for companies owned by the Bonnier family, takes over from Jan Wifstrand, who resigned as DN editor on Friday.

In an interview on DN's website, Larsson confirmed that he had been offered the job by the board and had accepted. The board will make its formal decision at an extraordinary general meeting on Thursday morning.

Larsson said that DN will continue as a broad quality newspaper, but that the way it is edited will be reviewed and that the content will gradually be renewed.
