Police in Växjö, southern Sweden, have arrested one person in connection with an execution-style murder in the town in 1992.

The arrest concerns the killing of Erik Axel Eriksson, a 26-year old officer in the army reserve, who was shot in the back outside his home in the Hovs Haga district of the town. Eriksson was killed by four or five shots released in quick succession, after which the killer disappeared from the scene.

Witnesses described the murderer as a dark-haired man in his twenties. Searches for the killer following the shooting on 31st March 1992 failed to lead to any arrests.

Police are due to give more information at a press conference on Monday afternoon.
