The deal will allow mobile phone users to receive and view content from Turner networks such as CNN International and the Cartoon Network. Turner is a unit of media conglomerate Time Warner Inc.
“With this deal, we will have for the first time a full portfolio of solutions – from SMS through to mobile television – that will scale and easily move across the world,” said Casey Harwood, Senior Vice President, Digital Media, Turner Broadcasting.
Jan Wäreby, head of Multimedia at Ericsson, said the company’s service-provider customers would benefit from the partnership:
“They will be able to provide popular mobile multimedia content from Turner’s vast catalogue and greatly enhance the multimedia experience for the consumer,” he said in a statement.
