Body found in lake 'may be missing woman'
Police believe they have identified a body found in a lake near the eastern town of Södertälje on Sunday. A handbag discovered nearby has linked the body to a local woman who went missing last autumn.
"It might be a woman from Nykvarn who disappeared in October last year. We have found a handbag beside the remains that suggests it was her," said police spokesman Christer Berg.
Police could not say whether or not the woman had died a natural death.
"It is too early to say. We will have to wait for a medical examination to be carried out," said investigator Mikael Olsson.
The woman's remains have been taken to a medical examination centre in Solna outside Stockholm.
