Police say it is possible that a young man may have swallowed another man's thumb in a fight in Jönköping on Saturday night.

The two men, aged 23 and 24, came to blows on a dancefloor at a party in the southern Swedish town. The 23-year-old bit off his antagonist's thumb, after which the thumb-less man knocked the other man's teeth out.

The men were taken to hospital, but doctor's hopes of sewing the 24-year-old's thumb back on faded after exhaustive searches failed to recover it.

Police have so far been unable to determine for sure whether the 23-year-old may have swallowed the other man's digit.

The ‘fairytale' boarding school nestled in a Swedish village

The words ‘boarding' and ‘school' often summon images of strict teachers, drab dormitories and downcast children. That image couldn't be further from reality at Sigtunaskolan Humanistiska Läroverket (SSHL), where boarders describe the ‘fairytale' school as a home away from home.
