Just after 9pm on Saturday a neighbour called police to say that a shot had been fired in the Trulstorp summer cottage area. The 55-year-old was in his home while the gunman stood outside.
The victim received serious injuries to his face but his condition was not life-threatening. He was treated overnight in Lund’s University hospital.
Police began a hunt for a man who was reported leaving Södra Rörum in a car. At midnight the suspect was found in his home, around 10km from the scene of the crime.
“Negotiations began over the phone and he came out voluntarily,” said Hans Nilsson at Skåne police.
The suspected attacker, who was previously known to police, was arrested without incident. He had already been charged in his absence and was questioned overnight.
Early on Sunday morning police had still not established a motive.
“We have not yet spoken further with the injured party and we have just finished the forensic investigation,” said Hans Nilsson.
