The two men received a rude awakening in the early hours of a March morning when the new guy returned home to the flat they shared in the Älvsjö suburb of Stockholm.
After a night spent drinking large amounts of alcohol, the 24-year-old requested the others to join him for a nightcap. But the pair declined, insisting that they had to get up for work in the morning.
It was then that matters took a turn that would leave the two men in shock for some time afterwards.
The 24-year-old became violent and threatened to kill them. He told them that he was a witch, as well as being half man, half wolf.
Having ripped from his neck a chain made from lions’ teeth, he began engaging in a sort of ritual dance while howling like a wolf.
He then proceeded to hunt one of his flatmates out onto the snow-covered street, leaving him there in sub-zero temperatures in only his underwear.
Returning to the flat, the 24-year-old kept the other man locked inside while dancing in front of him with a knife in each hand. At one point he attempted to slit his flatmate’s throat.
The ordeal ended when would-be witch fell asleep, allowing his victim to flee and call the police.
The 24-year-old now faces criminal charges at Södertörn District Court. He denies having committed any crime, arguing instead that it was he who was attacked.
Prosecutor Mikael Carlsson is set to recommend that the defendant spends several years in prison.
