Swimming protesters stopped by police

Two activists made an attempt early on Monday morning to swim out to the battleships participating in a major Nato naval exercise in Gothenburg's harbour.

It was the second time in two days that protesters had tried to make their way out to the vessels. The swimming activists were stopped by police patrolling the area in boats.

According to police, the swimming activists – a man and a woman – had with them a message wrapped in plastic that they intended either handing over to a naval crew or affixing to one of the vessels.

Early on Sunday morning another man and woman were stopped by police as they tried to paddle out to the ships in small rubber dinghies.
