A 24-year-old woman who claims to have twice been assaulted since testifying at a murder trial earlier this year has now been accused by police of fabricating the stories.

The results of forensic and medical examinations contradict her reports, say Stockholm police.

"There have been no objective finds to support her story. Some other people have provided details that partly support her version but these details can also be explained in other ways," according to a police statement.

The woman's mother was informed of the police's suspicions at lunchtime on Tuesday.

"They are telling lies. There were witnesses to the assault and my grandchild who was there has spoken of 'mean men'," she told news agency TT.

A 24-year-old man was sentenced to twelve years in prison in May for the murder of 25-year-old Samir in the Stockholm suburb Mälarhöjden in the early hours of New Year's Day.

The woman had attended the same party as a man who was murdered at a party in the Stockholm suburb Mälarhöjden in the early hours of New Year's Day.
