One teenager, born in 1990, is thought to have helped carry out the attack while five others are suspected of harbouring a known criminal. These include a woman born in 1986, a man born the same year, and three further men born in 1990.
“The man suspected of the stabbing is previously known to police. Some of the others are also known to police, but not all of them,” police spokesman Sven Ahlbin told Göteborgs-Posten.
All suspects were taken in for questioning on Tuesday evening.
Police tracked down the suspects after a 45-year-old man was stabbed inside the kiosk where he was working, located by a tram stop in Länsmansgården on the island of Hisingen. The victim managed to make his way out of the shop before being taken by ambulance to Sahlgrenska Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
A motorcycle police officer later stopped a car containing several people who had been spotted near the scene of the crime.
