A 26-year-old Swede who was assaulted in an incident at a nightclub in Bulgaria, in which another Swede was killed, has returned to Sweden.

"He flew to [Gothenburg] Landvetter last night," Sweden's Ambassador to Bulgaria, Bertil Roth, told news agency TT.

Before his return home the Swede was interviewed by prosecutors, after which he had his passport returned.

The interview concerned a fight at the Help nightclub in the resort of Nessebar last Monday. The fight resulted in the death of the injured man's 24-year-old friend.

A doorman at the club has been in police custody since last week, suspected of involvement in the assault which led to the Swede's death.
