"This is very serious. They don't know what they're getting themselves into and what kinds of people they could meet," said Eva Karlenfors, detective inspector in Stockholm police's prostitution and trafficking unit.
But Karlenfors told the newspaper Metro that the issue is not just limited to Sweden's main cities.
"This is across the whole country," she said, noting that the problem increased as the use of mobile phones and the internet increased.
The sites claim to have a minimum age of 18 for their participants but police say that many young girls lie about their age.
"This is not easy money, even if they think it is. Many take drugs to be able to carry on," said Eva Karlenfors to Metro.
